Carpatho-Rusyn Vatra: The 5th Annual Vatra Picnic will be held on August 26th here at Infant Jesus. The Kitchen opens at 12:00 noon, until 8:00pm. This picnic features cultural event, Eastern Europe music, and great ethnic foods. All are invited, Rain or Shine, FREE ADMISSION.

 

Byzantine Social Club: The Byzantine Social Club will be meeting on Wednesday August 23rd at 6:00pm in the pavilion for a cookout. Group C is in charge. Hope all members are able to come.

 

Pilgrimage: The Sisters of St. Basil the Great are having their 83rd annual pilgrimage in honor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help on September 2-3, 2017 at Mount Saint Macrina in Uniontown, PA. Come & participate on the beautiful grounds this wonderful weekend. For more information, call 724-438-8644.

 

ATTENTION ALL PARISHIONERS: This weekend we begin our new fundraiser campaign. We are selling raffle tickets with the grand prize being $1,000.00, 2nd & 3rd place are $500.00 each. We are asking each family to sell 5 books ($25.00) of tickets. Tickets can be picked up in the vestibule. We are doing this fundraiser to raise money for numerous projects needing to be done at the church. We do not know at this time if we will be making pirohy & Kolachi this winter, therefore; we are substituting this fundraiser. If you would like more tickets to sell/buy, because the seller of the winning tickets receives $25.00, please contact Fr. Michael, Paula Slemons or Michelle Straub. Please write your name on the back of the tickets you sold.  The drawing will be held in October. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.

 

Altar and Rosary Society: There will be coffee and donuts on September 17th following 9:00am Liturgy. After coffee and donuts there will the Altar and Rosary Society meeting. All are welcome.

Mark your calendar for August 24th, and get ready for another great day of “Faith & Fun.” Open to all active altar servers (elementary through college), this exciting day is sponsored by the office of Vocations & is a way to say “thank you” to active altar servers for volunteering time & service to the church. From the Divine Liturgy, to a hearty lunch, to a visit to the Carnegie Science Center, & ending with a Pittsburgh Pirates game, you will truly have a memorable experience. Don’t delay—space is limited, so see your pastor to sign-up!

 

Sanctuary Candles: The Sanctuary candles will be lit for the entire week for your intentions. The cost is $10. There are two Sanctuary candles so more than one intention may be given. This week’s Sanctuary Candles are both for the Health and Wellbeing of Bri and Elena Slemons from Family.

52nd Annual Assumption Pilgrimage: The 52nd Annual Assumption Pilgrimage will be held August 13-15, 2017 at the Basilica and National Shrines of Our Lady of Lebanon in North Jackson, Ohio. The Feast of the Assumption will be on Tuesday, August 15th.

St. Mary’s Church Feast Celebration: REMINDER. This Tuesday, August 15th is St. Mary’s Church Feast Celebration. Liturgy is at 4:00pm and cocktails and dinner begin at 5:00pm for those who RSVP.

 

United Nations International Pilgrim Virgin Statue Fatima Centennial Tour: One of the four famous statues sculpted according to the specifications of Sister Lucia, will be held at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church on Wednesday August 16th from 11:00am to 7:00pm. We are doing this fundraiser due to the many projects that still need to be done, such as; repaving/repairing the parking lot and entrance to the Church, upgrading the septic system, repairing the steeple and rim on the roof of the Church, just to name a few.

 

Kennywood: Thank you to Elaine Chachko for all of her hard work and time organizing the day at Kennywood. Also, a thank you to the GCU for the snacks that everyone enjoyed. It was a wonderful day and everyone had a great time.

Kennywood: Attention all who are riding the bus to Kennywood- Please be at Infant Jesus of Prague at 8:30am on Thursday July 27th. There will be a tailgate before and the bus will leave at 9:00am sharp. Tickets will be given out at that time, to whoever purchased them from our church. Marriage Celebration: A celebration of Marriage honouring those who are celebrating significant anniversaries (10,25,40,45,50, and every 5 years thereafter) in this year of 2017. The celebration will be held on Sunday, September 10th at 3:00pm at St. Elias Church in Munhall, PA. Divine Liturgy followed by a banquet dinner, a certificate, and a picture with Archbishop William will occur. Please call the rectory by this Sunday July 23, 2017 so we can register you for this wonderful event.

 

United Nations International Pilgrim Virgin Statue Fatima Centennial Tour: One of the four famous statues sculpted according to the specifications of Sister Lucia, will be held at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church on Wednesday August 16th from 11:00am to 7:00pm. 52nd Annual Assumption Pilgrimage: The 52nd Annual Assumption Pilgrimage will be held August 13-15, 2017 at the Basilica and National Shrines of Our Lady of Lebanon in North Jackson, Ohio. The Feast of the Assumption will be on Tuesday, August 15th.

 

Pilgrimage for Peace: The Pilgrimage for Peace Transfigured by Peace will be at Holy Dormition Byzantine Franciscan Friary in Sybertsville, Pennsylvania on Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 10:00am-6:00pm.

 

Blessing of the Cars: Next week after liturgy, Fr. Michael will be blessing cars for all who come.

It will be held Monday July 17- Friday July 21 from 9am-12 noon each day. The theme of VBS will be “Maker Fun Factory: Created by God, Built for a Purpose.” It will be centralized around our Byzantine Catholic Faith and traditions as well. Sign-up sheets will be in the vestibule.
