DEARLY DEPARTED: This past two weeks  we lost three beloved parishioners; Helen Gayetsky, Darlene Kassen and Peter Kasper. Our deepest sympathy and prayers to all the departed and their families.  Blessed repose to Helen, Darlene and Peter.

PARISH DINNER: Please mark your calendars for the annual parish dinner to be held on Sunday, October 15^th 12:15pm at the Holiday Inn in Boardman. Buffet Menu includes roast beef, fried chicken, scalloped potatoes, honey glazed carrots, salad, rolls and desert. Cost is $17.00, all inclusive. Make checks payable to Altar Rosary Society by October 8^th. Sign-up sheet is in the vestibule.

BINGO: St. Peter & Paul, Warren, will hold a bingo/card party on October 1, 2017 from 1-4 pm in their church social hall. Tickets are $6.00, which includes a ticket, door prize, one bingo card, and a box lunch.

ALL PARISHIONERS:  We are still selling the raffle tickets with the grand prize being $1,000.00, 2^nd & 3^rd place are $500.00 each. REMINDER; please return your ticket money, it is past due. Write your name on the back of the tickets you sold.  The drawing will be held at the end of October. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support. This fund raiser will be used for church maintenance.

GCU LODGE 442; The GCU Lodge is sponsoring a community matching funds project to benefit the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley.  We are collecting needed items that are listed in the vestibule. The Home office will donate funds equal to the donated items value. Deadline is October 31, 2017.

HURRICANE RELIEF: The Metropolitan Archeparchy of Pittsburgh is asking all churches to have a special collection the weeks of September 17^th and 24^th. The funds collected will be used by Catholic Charities USA for aid to those affected from Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Please mark your envelope with your name and “Hurricane,” deposit in the collection basket.

PILGRIM VOCATION:

Vocations are the result of Christian community. Placing faith and hope in this command of the Lord, all Byzantine Catholic Churches in America will begin a Pilgrim vocation Icon Program, today, Sunday, September 24. Whoever signed up for the first week, please take the icon and prayer book located on the vestibule table.

 

LIGHTS: Donations collected in the maintenance fund envelope were used towards new outside lighting. A special thank you to all who donated, and to Ken, Joe and Tom for their help installing exterior lights around the church.

 

SANCTUARY CANDLES: The Sanctuary candles will be lit for the entire week for your intentions. The cost is $10.  Left is for the Health and Well-being of the Salcedo family; Right is for in memory of Irene O’Shelski from Mary Beth Hayer and Janice & David Hartzell.

Carpatho-Rusyn Vatra: The 5^th Annual Vatra Picnic will be held on August 26^th here at Infant Jesus. The Kitchen opens at 12:00 noon, until 8:00pm. This picnic features cultural event, Eastern Europe music, and great ethnic foods. All are invited, Rain or Shine, FREE ADMISSION.

52^nd Annual Assumption Pilgrimage: The 52^nd Annual Assumption Pilgrimage will be held August 13-15, 2017 at the Basilica and National Shrines of Our Lady of Lebanon in North Jackson, Ohio. The Feast of the Assumption will be on Tuesday, August 15^th.

 

Pilgrimage: The Sisters of St. Basil the Great are having their 83^rd annual pilgrimage in honor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help on September 2-3, 2017 at Mount Saint Macrina in Uniontown, PA. Come & participate on the beautiful grounds this wonderful weekend.

 

Carpatho-Rusyn Vatra: The Rusyn-Slovak picnic will be held on Saturday August 26^th from 12-8 here on the grounds of Infant Jesus. All are welcome!

 

ATTENTION ALL PARISHIONERS: This weekend we begin our new fundraiser campaign. We are selling raffle tickets with the grand prize being $1,000.00, 2^nd & 3^rd place are $500.00 each. We are asking each family to sell 5 books ($25.00) of tickets. Tickets can be picked up in the vestibule. We are doing this fundraiser to raise money for numerous projects needing to be done at the church. We do not know at this time if we will be making pirohy & Kolachi this winter, therefore; we are substituting this fundraiser. If you would like more tickets to sell/buy, because the seller of the winning tickets receives $25.00, please contact Fr. Michael, Paula Slemons or Michelle Straub. Please write your name on the back of the tickets you sold.  The drawing will be held in October. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.

St. Mary’s Church Feast Celebration: REMINDER. This Tuesday, August 15^th is St. Mary’s Church Feast Celebration. Liturgy is at 4:00pm and cocktails and dinner begin at 5:00pm for those who RSVP.

 

United Nations International Pilgrim Virgin Statue Fatima Centennial Tour: One of the four famous statues sculpted according to the specifications of Sister Lucia, will be held at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church on Wednesday August 16^th from 11:00am to 7:00pm. ATTENTION ALL PARISHIONERS: Next weekend (August 5^th and 6^th), we will be kicking off a new fundraiser. We will be asking all parishioners to participate. Look in next week’s bulletin for all the information. We are doing this fundraiser due to the many projects that still need to be done, such as; repaving/repairing the parking lot and entrance to the Church, upgrading the septic system, repairing the steeple and rim on the roof of the Church, just to name a few.

 

Kennywood: Thank you to Elaine Chachko for all of her hard work and time organizing the day at Kennywood. Also, a thank you to the GCU for the snacks that everyone enjoyed. It was a wonderful day and everyone had a great time.
