CONGRATULATONS:  Best wishes to Francine (Stanko) & Adam Schuler who were married this past Friday at our church.  May God grant Francine & Adam a long life of health and happiness.

 

BYZANTINE SOCIAL CLUB: The next meeting of the Byzantine Social club will be held in the church on Wednesday, November 20th at 6:00pm.  New members are welcome. A light meal will be served.  Group B is in charge.  

 

GCU: Everyone is invited for coffee and donuts on Sunday, November 24th, to be followed by the 4th Quarter GCU meeting.

 

CHRISTMAS DECORATING: Volunteers are needed on Saturday, Dec. 7th at 9:00am for the annual decorating of our church.  Please donate your time to beautify the church for this Christmas season.

 

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY:  The 2019 Children’s Christmas party will be held on Sunday, Dec. 15th following the Liturgy and is open to kids up to 14 years old.  A light lunch will be served and St. Nicholas will be bringing presents! Please sign up by Dec. 9th on the sheet in the vestibule.  

 

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS DINNER:  All are invited to the Annual Christmas Dinner to be held at the Holiday Inn Boardman on Sunday, Dec. 8th at 5:00pm.  $22 includes your choice of London Broil, Stuffed Chicken Florentine or Salmon, with Salad, Green Beans, Rolls, Desert, Coffee, & Hot or Iced Tea. There will also be a 50/50 Raffle and prizes. 

 

 HOLIDAY CONCERT:  The East Winds Symphonic Band & the Pittsburgh Byzantine Catholic Archieparchal Choir will present a Holiday Sounds Concert on Sunday, Dec. 15th, 2019 at 3:30pm at St. John’s Cathedral Center in Munhall, PA.  Admission is free.  

  

REMINDER-CCD (ECF) CLASSES:  Eastern Christian Formation Classes are being held at Byzantine at the Grove at 6:30 pm every Tuesday and are open to all school aged children and adults.

50TH ANNIVERSARY UPDATE:The celebration will be held on June 28th, 2020.  There are flyers from the meeting in the vestibule for updates.

YOUTH PROGRAM DIRECTOR: We are looking for a parishioner who would like to run/organize our new youth program.  This individual will coordinate our youth activities for school aged children at our parish.  Please contact Fr. Michael if interested.

 

CHRISTMAS TREES: After taking inventory, it has been decided to purchase new artificial Christmas trees for the church. There are envelopes in the vestibule for anyone who would like to make a donation towards this purchase.

 

SANCTUARY CANDLES:

The Sanctuary candles will be lit for the entire week for your intentions. The left Sanctuary candle this week is in Memory of +James Hayer and the right candle is in Memory of +Irene & Robert O’Shelski.  Both are from Mary Beth Hayer and Janice & David Hartzell.

PARISHIONER NEWS: Our parishioner +Coralie Terleck passed away this past Thursday.  Calling hours will be Mon., Oct.28th at Kirila Funeral Home and the funeral will be on Tues., Oct. 29th at our church.  Our deepest sympathy to the Terleck family.  Blessed repose to His servant +Coralie.

There will be a Rosary Rally on Saturday, October 12th, 2019.  It will begin at 11:00 am at St. Columba Cathedral in downtown Youngstown and process to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Basilica.  the Rosary will be prayed at 12:00 noon.  All are encouraged to attend.

St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic church in Campbell, will host the visitation of the famous National Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima on October 10. St Michael’s is located at 463 Robinson Road, Campbell, OH. Everyone is invited to see and pray before the statue. Additional details are forthcoming.

 

PARISH DINNER:

The annual parish dinner will be on Sunday, October 13th @ 12:15 pm. It will be held at the Holiday Inn in Boardman. Price is $21.00 all-inclusive for adults and children (age 4-10) are $12.  There is a sign-up sheet in vestibule and please pay in advanced by Sunday, October 6th. Beginning Tuesday, October 15th, Eastern Christian Formation Classes will resume.  Classes will be held at Byzantine at the Grove at 6:00 pm every Tuesday.  All school aged children and adults are encouraged to attend.

We are looking for a parishioner who would like to run/organize our new youth program.  This individual will coordinate our youth activities for school aged children at our parish.  Anyone interested or has further questions please contact Fr. Michael. 

 

50TH ANNIVERSARY MEETING:

On Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 9:00am, there will be a meeting to discuss details/plans for Infant Jesus of Prague’s 50th Anniversary celebration.  Coffee and donuts will be served.  We hope many parishioners attend to help make this a wonderful, memorable event.

 

MEN’S POTLUCK DINNER: Asking all the men from the Byzantine Social Club to bring their favorite dish to share at the Men’s Potluck Dinner on Wednesday, October 23rd at 6:00pm at the Church.  New members are always welcome.  Group B is in charge.

 

BYZANTINE SPIRITUAL RETREAT:  The 2019 Byzantine Spiritual Retreat will be on Sat, Nov. 9 from 9:30am-1:45pm at St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Munhall, PA. The fee is $35 and includes lunch.  The deadline to sign up is Nov. 2, 2019.

The Society is presenting the documentary film, The Resurrection of A Nation:  The Story of the Fall of Communism and the Triumphant Revival of Carpatho- Rusyn Culture on Sunday, September 29 at 1:30pm at the Butler Institute of Art.

Blessing of the students and teachers will be held this weekend following each liturgy. All students, preschool through college, are invited to receive a blessing for this coming school year.
