52nd Annual Assumption Pilgrimage: The 52nd Annual Assumption Pilgrimage will be held August 13-15, 2017 at the Basilica and National Shrines of Our Lady of Lebanon in North Jackson, Ohio. The Feast of the Assumption will be on Tuesday, August 15th.

 

Pilgrimage for Peace: The Pilgrimage for Peace Transfigured by Peace will be at Holy Dormition Byzantine Franciscan Friary in Sybertsville, Pennsylvania on Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 10:00am-6:00pm.

 

Kennywood: Kennywood Day will be Thursday July 27, 2017. As stated, the bus is free; Infant Jesus is paying for it. There are sign-up sheets in the vestibule for your tickets. The cost is also on the sign-up sheet. The ticket costs are: Funday Ticket (ages 3-54) – $24.00, Senior Funday Ticket (age 55+) – $14.00, Super Senior Funday Ticket (age 70+) – $9.99, Catered Lunch (age 11+) – $15.00, Jr. Catered Lunch (ages 3-10) – $8.00. There is no charge for guests ages 2 and under. Deadline for park tickets for Kennywood is Monday July 10,2017.

 

Marriage Celebration: A celebration of Marriage honouring those who are celebrating significant anniversaries (10,25,40,45,50, and every 5 years thereafter) in this year of 2017. The celebration will be held on Sunday, September 10th at 3:00pm at St. Elias Church in Munhall, PA. Divine Liturgy followed by a banquet dinner, a certificate, and a picture with Archbishop William will occur. Please call the rectory by Sunday July 23, 2017 so we can register you for this wonderful event.

 

Mark your Calendars: Mark your calendars for the annual picnic. The Infant Jesus of Prague picnic will be on Wednesday, July 19th at 6pm at the church pavilion, Group A is in charge. Please bring your favorite side dish or desert. Sign-up sheets are in the vestibule. We hope all parishioners can attend.

 

GCU Meeting: Sunday July 23rd, following 9:00am Liturgy everyone is welcome for coffee and donuts. The 3rd Quarterly GCU meeting will follow. We hope you can attend.

 

Update on Summer Vacation School: St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Campbell is holding a summer vacation Bible School. It will be held Monday July 17- Friday July 21 from 9am-12 noon each day. The theme of VBS will be “Maker Fun Factory: Created by God, Built for a Purpose.” It will be centralized around our Byzantine Catholic Faith and traditions as well. Sign-up sheets will be in the vestibule.

 

Sanctuary Candles: The Sanctuary candles will be lit for the entire week for your intentions. The cost is $10. There are two Sanctuary candles so more than one intention may be given.

Parishioner News: Congratulations to our College and High School Graduates.

Today, we celebrate our High School Graduates Maddie Krawsnasky, Stephen Stanko (From Boardman High School) and Elena Slemons (From Canfield High School).

Maddie will be attending Youngstown State University majoring in Early Childhood Education. Stephen will be attending Youngstown State University majoring in Finance. Elena will be attending The Ohio State University majoring in Sports Industry (Business).

Also, Nicholas Dubos who graduated from Duquesne University with a Doctorate in Pharmacy. Nick will be a Pharmacist for Rite-Aid.

Congratulations to all our graduates and may God continue to bless them in the next stage of their lives.

Flag Day: Flag Day will be celebrated on June 11, 2017 following 9:00 a.m. Sunday Liturgy with a ceremony and light lunch. This day is sponsored by our GCU Lodge 442. If you have a new flag you wish to have blessed, you are welcome to bring it. Special guest will be GCU Lodge 252 from St. Nicholas.

 

REMINDER: Everyone is welcome to come and Pray the Rosary at 8:30am before the June 4th Liturgy. The Rosary will be prayed every 1st Sunday of the month.

 

Trash to Treasure: A trash to treasure sale will be held at St. Peter and Paul Church Social Hall and Parking Lot, 180 Belvedere Ave NE in Warren, Ohio on Saturday June 3, 2017 from 8:00am-4:00pm. Numerous vendors, food, and bake sale. Everyone is welcome!

SENIOR LUNCHEON: The monthly senior luncheon will be held on Thursday June 1, 2017 at NOON at Byzantine at the Grove. Please call Helen Yurko@ 330-782-1524 for reservations. All parishioners and friends are welcomed to come and enjoy the afternoon. There will be NO Senior Luncheon for July and August, but will Resume in September.

 

Roof Leak: Due to construction and rain, we had a water leak in the Sanctuary and side alcoves. The sound system is damaged. We apologize for the inconvenience and will update you as the situation is fixed.

 

Maintenance Update: Starting in June, the flat roofs on the Church will be removed and replaced by Holtz and Sons Roofing for a cost of $32,500. Your generosity in giving to the maintenance envelope will help defray the cost.

 

Food Fest Announcement: Our 2nd Annual Food Fest will be held on Saturday June 24, 2017 from 11am-4pm at St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church on Robinson road in Campbell. The menu will be Holupki, Haluski, Kolbasi & Sauerkraut and Pirohy. There will also be a bake sale & music. We would love your help and/or patronage to make this another great event. WE ARE LOOKING FOR BAKERS FOR OUR BAKE SALE!!! There will be sign-up sheets in the vestibule coming in June.

Stephen, who is one of our Altar Boys, will be Graduating from Boardman High School this year, is Valedictorian of his class with a 4.0 GPA. Stephen is also an All-Conference swimmer and tennis player. Congratulations Stephen!

Byzantine Social Club: On Wednesday, May 24th at 6:30pm, the Byzantine Social Club will have their monthly meeting in the church pavilion for a picnic weather permitting. Group A is in charge. All parishioners are invited to enjoy a wonderful spring evening.  

Slavic Fest: Reminder that St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, 2230 Highland Road, Hermitage, is having a “SLAVIC FEST” TODAY, Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 11:00am-7:00pm at the Social Center. Ethnic Slavic Foods and Desserts will be available for eat-in or take-out. Live bands include the Cleveland Style Polka, The Zaps and the Chardon Polka Band. Vendors, ethnic and religious items, Chinese Auction and 50/50 Raffle. Free Admission!
