FOOD DRIVE:
The Byzantine Social Club is sponsoring a food drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. Most needed food items include: cereal, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned soup, dry pasta, mac and cheese, peanut butter and tuna. The donation box will be in the church vestibule until April 7th. Your help in this endeavour is greatly appreciated.
EASTER EGG HUNT:
The Children’s Easter Egg Hunt will be held THIS SUNDAY, Palm Sunday, March 24th after 9:00 am Liturgy for all children who signed up.
SPAGHETTI DINNER:
St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, 405 Robinson Road in Campbell will be hosting a Spaghetti Dinner THIS Sunday, Palm Sunday-March 24th from Noon-2:30 pm. Adults $12.00 and Children $6.00.
ROSARY:
The Altar & Rosary Society will be praying the rosary Sunday, April 7th at 8:30 am. Everyone is welcomed.
BYZANTINE SOCIAL CLUB:
The Byzantine Social invite all to take the handout available on the vestibule table to learn information about the club and their activities. Please remember, all parishioners are invited to join. Also, watch the bulletin throughout the year for upcoming events.
SANCTUARY CANDLES:
The Sanctuary candles will be lit for the entire week for your intentions.
For the week of March 24-30, the left sanctuary candle is in memory of + Paulette Kloes from Bob & Millie Jonda. The right sanctuary candle is in memory of +Clement Smreck from Tillie Chachko and family.
The great preacher of the late seventh century, Andrew of Crete, implores us: “…to meet Christ on the Mount of Olives … [and] let us spread before his feet, not garments or soulless olive branches, which delight the eye for a few hours and then wither, but ourselves, clothed in his grace, or rather, clothed completely in him. We who have been baptized into Christ must ourselves be the garments that we spread before him. Now that the crimson stains of our sins have been washed away in the saving waters of baptism and we have become white as pure wool, let us present the conqueror of death, not with mere branches of palms but with the real rewards of his victory. Let our souls take the place of the welcoming branches as we join today in the children’s holy song: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Blessed is the king of Israel.
