UPDATE-BYZANTINE SOCIAL CLUB COMMUNION BRUNCH:   The Communion Brunch has been cancelled until further notice.

50TH ANNIVERSARY UPDATE: We are looking for businesses, organizations, and parish families to provide sponsorships in our Commemorative Anniversary Book. There will also be a section in memory of our beloved deceased parishioners.  Order forms are available inside this week’s bulletin.  If you have more than one sponsor, contact the rectory or call Mary Sinowski at (330)540-4519 .

We are also asking parishioners for any pictures from 1970 to present of our church to put in the commemorative book.  Any questions, call Paula Slemons.

 

PICTURES UPDATE:   Thank you to all parishioners who have had their pictures taken for our 50th Anniversary Commemorative Book.  We know some were unable to meet these dates; therefore, we will be planning another sitting after Easter.  We truly hope to have all parish families represented in our book. CONFESSION SCHEDULE:

Father Michael will be having confessions on Tuesdays ( March 24th, 31st & April 7th) and Thursday s ( March 26th, April 2nd & April 9th) from 3:00 pm -5:00pm at Infant Jesus of Prague. Confessionals will be with a screen for protection. All are welcomed and if you want to make an appointment please call Father Michael at the rectory @ (758-6019)

 

 GCU JUNIOR BOWLING TOURNAMENT:

The GCU Junior Bowling Tournament is postponed until the coronavirus threat has subsided. Possibly not until May but it is a wait and see basis depending on the state regulations. . 

 

 

SANCTUARY CANDLES:The Sanctuary candles will be lit for the entire week for your intentions.   The left Sanctuary candle this week is for the Health & well-being of Helen Brill from her family. There is no intention for the right Sanctuary candle.

We will continue to pray for your health and well being. May God have mercy on us and on all the world.

PARISHIONER NEWS:   Our parish lost 2 members this past week:

Mrs. Geri Suhey passed away on March 8th and her Funeral Liturgy was held on Friday. 

Mrs. Sophie Cimino passed away on March 10th and her Funeral Liturgy was held on Saturday.

We extend our condolences and deepest sympathy to both the Suhey and Cimino families.

May God grant rest to the souls of His Servants, Geri and Sophie, and may their Memory be Eternal.

 

 

HARVEST FOR HUNGER:  We are currently collecting non-perishable food items and paper products for the Second Harvest Food Bank. The collection bin will be in the vestibule through the end of April.

 

UPDATE AND REMINDER- STUFFED CABBAGE DINNER: The Stuffed Cabbage Dinner this Sunday, March 15 from 11am-2pm at Byzantine Center at the Grove HAS BEEN CHANGED TO CARRY OUT ONLY.  The cost is $12/person for Adults and $6 for Children age 10 and under. Extra stuffed cabbage are $3/each or $30/dozen.  Bring your own container or containers will be available for $1 each.  Orders must be called in advance (330)519-0395.  Carry out includes homemade stuffed cabbage, mashed potatoes, corn, bread/butter, and dessert.

Order forms are on the vestibule table and must be returned by April 5th.     Pickup will be in the church vestibule on Wed., April 8th before (5-6pm) and after (7-8pm) Pre-Sanctified Liturgy. 

Also, anyone interested in donating Robin Hood flour, eggs, butter, golden raisins, sugar or money will be greatly appreciated.

SPIRITUALITY DAY:  The Benedictine Sisters of the Byzantine Church at Queen of Heaven Monastery, Warren, Ohio are offering a Day of Spirituality in Preparation of  the Resurrection of Christ, on Sunday, March 15th from 1:30 to 4:30pm. It will be held at SS. Peter & Paul Parish at 180 Belvedere Ave. NE, Warren, Ohio. The topic will be “the I AMs of Jesus” presented by Rev. PARISHIONER NEWS:  Our parishioner Thomas Urdea passed away this past week.  His Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, March 2nd at 10am.  Our deepest sympathy to Mr. Urdea’s family.  Blessed Repose and Eternal Memory to the Servant of God Thomas.

 

PRE-SANCTIFIED LITURGY:   During Great Lent, Pre-sanctified Liturgies will be on Wednesdays 6:00pm at Infant Jesus and on Fridays at 4:00pm at St. Nicholas.  On Wednesdays following Liturgy, Dan Magulick will be conducting classes to educate us in our faith.  We hope all can stay.  Last year’s classes were very informative.

Strict Fast (no meat or dairy products) on Monday, Feb. 24th and on Good Friday, April 10th.  On all Wednesdays and Fridays during Great Lent: abstinence from meat.

 

 

PRE-SANCTIFIED LITURGY:   During Great Lent, Pre-sanctified Liturgies will be on Wednesdays 6:00pm at Infant Jesus and on Fridays at 4:00pm at St. Nicholas.  On Wednesdays following Liturgy, Dan Magulick will be conducting classes to educate us in our faith.  We hope all can stay.  Last year’s classes were very informative.   

 

50TH ANNIVERSARY UPDATE: We are looking for businesses, organizations, and parish families to provide sponsorships in our Commemorative Anniversary Book. There will also be a section in memory of our beloved deceased parishioners.  Order forms will be available by March 1st.  For additional information please call or text Mary Sinowski at (330)540-4519 .

We are also asking parishioners for any pictures from 1970 to present of our church to put in the commemorative book.  Any questions, call Paula Slemons.

 

PICTURES UPDATE:   Thank you to all parishioners who have had their pictures taken for our 50th Anniversary Commemorative Book.  We know some were unable to meet these dates; therefore, we will be planning another sitting after Easter.  We truly hope to have all parish families represented in our book. COFFEE AND DONUT SOCIAL:  Everyone is invited on Sunday, March 8th following Liturgy for coffee and donuts.  The 1st Quarter Meeting of the GCU Lodge 442 will take place afterwards.

  

HARVEST FOR HUNGER:  We will again be collecting non-perishable food items and paper products for the Second Harvest Food Bank. The collection bin will be in the vestibule through the end of April.

 

 

MEN’S DAY OF REFLECTION:  will take place at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church 506 East Main St. in Marblehead, OH on Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020. Registration is at 8:00 am.  The day will include a continental breakfast, prayer service, lunch, and concludes with a 4:00 pm Liturgy.  Please call (419)798-4283 to register.   

 

GCU JUNIOR BOWLING TOURNAMENT:

All boys and girls ages 5-18 who attend a Byzantine church are invited to attend on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Camelot Lanes. There will be no-cost bowling, food, prizes and fun! Applications and a sign-up sheet are in the church vestibule.  The deadline for entries is Saturday, March 21st.        

 

SANCTUARY CANDLES:The Sanctuary candles will be lit for the entire week for your intentions.   The left Sanctuary candle this week is in Memory of +Frederick Brill from Helen Brill & Family.   There is no intention for the right Sanctuary candle this week.

 

PIROGHI UPDATE:   A very special thank you to all who donated time, money and supplies for this fundraiser.  We had over 30 volunteers who came to help make 204 dozen piroghi.  All were sold, including homemade noodles.  A full report will be forthcoming.

 

ALL SOULS SATURDAYS:  This Saturday was the first All Souls Saturday.  If anyone wishes to have their deceased family members or friends prayed for, please notify Fr. Michael, Paula Slemons, or put your requests in the collection basket.

Pictures will be taken in the church on February 1st & 2nd and February 8th & 9th following the Divine Liturgies.  There are sign-up sheets on the vestibule table for you to pick your time.  There is NO COST to take the picture, and it is your choice to purchase your family portrait.   Any questions please see Father Michael or call Paula Slemons.   

 

END OF YEAR STATEMENTS:

Your parish donation statements for 2019 are available on the glass table in the vestibule.  If they are not picked up by January 26th, they will be mailed to your home. 

 

PIROGHI:  We will be making and selling piroghi for the upcoming Lenten season.  We will be making our homemade piroghi on February 15th at the Byzantine Center at the Grove.  All are encouraged to come and help. Donations of money or ingredients (potatoes, milk, flour, or butter) would be greatly appreciated.  Order forms will be available in the vestibule and can be returned in the collection basket, or call the rectory.   

 

 

STEAK FRY:  St. Michael’s Civic Club is sponsoring their annual Steak Fry on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at St. Michael’s Hall, 405 Robinson Road, Campbell.  Tickets are $15.00 and are available at the door.  The time is from 5:00-9:00pm. There will also be a Chinese Auction and cash bar.

  

CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS: We still have Infant Jesus of Prague 50th Anniversary Ornaments available. If interested, please see Jerry Novak on Saturday or Greg Slemons/Bob Sheely on Sunday.

  

SANCTUARY CANDLES:The Sanctuary candles will be lit for the entire week for your intentions.   The right Sanctuary candle is for Special Intentions of Tillie Chachko.  There is no intention for the left Sanctuary candle this week.
