PARISHIONER NEWS:
This past week, our beloved Monsignor Alexis Mihalik passed away. Msgr. Mihalik was appointed pastor of Infant Jesus of Prague in 1990. Under his guidance, the interior of the church was remodelled with the icon screen and tetrapod bringing the interior to conformity with the liturgical prescriptions of the Byzantine Church. He remained pastor until his retirement in 2007 but stayed active and involved in our parish. We heard his beautiful voice every Sunday as one of our cantors. Last year, he celebrated 60 years in the priesthood. His services will be next Saturday, December 13th in our church. Calling hours are 9:00 am-11:00 am. Our deepest sympathy and prayers to his sister Rosalie Krivan and his family and friends. Blessed repose to his servant Msgr. Alexis. We will miss you!
CANDLES:
The Sanctuary candles will be lit for the entire week for your intentions.
For the week of December 7-13, 2025, the left sanctuary candle is in memory of +Irene Kollar from Karen & Kathy Kollar. The right sanctuary candle is in memory of +Catherine Petersen from Mary Beth Hayer.
THE THANKFULNESS OF THE SAMARITAN.
CYRIL OF ALEXANDRIA: Falling into a thankless forgetfulness, the nine lepers that were Jews did not return to give glory to God. By this, he shows that Israel was hard of heart and utterly unthankful. The stranger, a Samaritan, was of foreign race brought from Assyria. The phrase “in the middle of Samaria and Galilee” has meaning. “He returned with a loud voice to glorify God.” It shows that the Samaritans were grateful but that the Jews, even when they benefited, were ungrateful. COMMENTARY ON LUKE, HOMILIES 113-16.
