ANNIVERSARY BOOKS:

Our 50th Anniversary are available to purchase for $15-please see Fr. Michael to purchase.  Those who generously donated and receive a free book, please see Fr. Michael or Paula Slemons.

ROSARY:

The Altar & Rosary Society will be praying the rosary Sunday, August 6 at 8:30 am. Everyone is welcomed.

KENNYWOOD DAY:

The 2023 GCU Byzantine Family Day at Kennywood Park in Pittsburgh is July 27, 2023. 

CELEBRATION OF MARRIAGE:

The Celebration of Marriage will be held this year on September 10th @ 3:00 pm –St. Elias Church in Pittsburgh. Couples who are celebrating their significant wedding anniversary years (10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 or additional years that are multiples of five) during this year of 2023 will be honoured. Please notify Fr. Michael or Paula by THIS SUNDAY July 16th in order to notify the diocese. Couples who are unable to attend, certificates will be sent.

Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the First Six Ecumenical Councils

First Ecumenical Council – Nicea, Asia Minor, 325 A.D. – Formulated the First Part of the Creed. Defining the divinity of the Son of God.

Second Ecumenical Council – Constantinople, 381 A.D. – Formulated the Second Part of the Creed, defining the divinity of the Holy Spirit.

Third Ecumenical Council – Ephesus, Asia Minor, 431A.D. – Defined Christ as the Incarnate Word of God and Mary as Theotokos.

Fourth Ecumenical Council – Chalcedon, Asia Minor, 451A.D. – Defined Christ as Perfect God and Perfect God and Perfect Man in One Person.

Fifth Ecumenical Council – Constantinople II, 553 A.D. – Reconfirmed the Doctrines of the Trinity and Christ.

Sixth Ecumenical Council – Constantinople III, 680 A.D. – Affirmed the True Humanity of Jesus by insisting upon the reality of His Human will and action.
